Description

This is a highly detailed piece that includes a lot of mixed features eg. An uncanny looking broken vintage doll face that was painted in grey and white textures, a hand sculpted face in the centre, paint textures, found objects and hand stitched patterns. It is another patchwork piece that was made using recycled materials. I paint over the scraps of recycled fabric I use, to create some unique aesthetic textures. The top of the patchwork is a plastic hanger with a broken doll face in the centre. The face has a loop of thread attached underneath for hanging. Creating art with recycled materials saves on costs and helps to lower pricing. Not to mention it is also an environmentally friendly approach to creating something special.

My signature and date of creation is on the back.

Approximate measurements; Length: 39.2cm : 29cm

Materials included; broken hanger, broken vintage doll face, hand sculpted polymer clay face, acrylic paint, mixed fabric, thick paper, assorted buttons, beads and charms, embroidery thread and polyester thread.

  • I am a multi-faceted artist. I have been making various forms of art all my life. My days are spent putting work, passion and love into the things I do. I'm very experimental with a lot of my art. I like to improvise as I'm going along and let my subconscious mind express itself through different methods and materials. My art is the most important thing to me because it is my therapy. In times of distress and sadness I bury myself in creativity and work. I'm autistic as well as regularly suffering with anxiety and depression. Life is an uphill battle and since childhood I've always found that creating is my only true solace.

My most recent projects have been focused around mixed media textile art. In addition to this I also sculpt clay faces and either alter or hand-make dolls and anthropomorphic sculptures. Some of my accomplishments as an artist are; illustrating 15 children's books for author Chrisi E. Da Pavlova, selling artworks and handcrafted items on Etsy and Ebay for over 8 years, having my art featured in American author Tantra Bensko's book 'Word Swell', earning a First and National Diploma in Art and completing a year studying Illustration, BA Hons at Lincoln University.
