Dawn Birch-James (MA Arts Market Appraisal): Managing Director

Dawn, Art in the Heart’s Founder and Director is responsible for strategy and business development, including artist and maker recruitment, brand quality control, PR, publicity and fund allocation. She has been dealing in fine and decorative art for 20 years and managing e-commerce shops for most of that time. She previously founded Harriet’s Art Gallery and the recent Art in the Heart Gallery and Gift Shop. She is now the inspiration behind this online Marketplace and the Art in Shop Windows project. She is self-taught in the ways of digital marketing. She writes regularly for a regional lifestyle magazine and has written forewords to art exhibition catalogues. She has experience in the valuation of art and antiques and has had her research referred to in articles and academic journals.

Eve Marshall (BA Fine Art): Community Art Projects

Eve, artisan felter and textile artist assists with Art in the Heart’s community art projects currently Art in Shop Windows. She was previously involved  in the day to day running of the art gallery and enjoyed great success there exhibiting and selling her work. She has been working creatively with felt for over twelve years, inspired by wildlife and nature and making tiny detailed sculpture to large wall pieces. She holds  workshops in the Eastern region and has been featured in many magazine articles and on TV. She sells her finished pieces online and at galleries and shops around the UK. She is one of the founding members of ESC Artists curating their exhibitions and has an online store with us on the Art in the Heart Marketplace.

Faye Gagel-Panchal (BA Fine Art Printmaking): Community Art Projects

Faye, mixed media artist and printmaker also assists with Art in the Heart’s community art projects currently Art in Shop Windows. She previously exhibited in the Art in the Heart gallery and gift shop and gave of her time voluntarily to assist with curating. Faye worked initially as a full-time professional artist, but then became a designer and product development manager for an overseas charity, where she worked with artisans in the developing world to create ethically traded products. She is now a qualified counsellor and has returned to her fine art pursuits. Her sari-inspired work raises money for The Esther Homes Project, India, through a percentage donation.

William Birch-James (BA Graphic Design): print and graphic design

William is equipped with a Graphic Design degree from Derby University. During his final year, he worked as a brand identity and print designer for Sight Support Derbyshire and Embrace a Kenyan charity. He won the best design concept for the Degree Show publicity. Previously he worked for a design company in Huntingdon and now works in the centre of London for a leading golfing apparel brand. He assists in the print and digital design requirements of the company.
