“Home of the Camponotus Child” -08.04.2021
The central features of this assemblage/sculpture include; a small jointed doll sitting in a chair surrounded by some faux natural material resembling moss or weeds. The doll is called the ‘Camponotous Child’ (Golden Carpenter Ant.) It has metallic ant limbs, antenae and a hand-sculpted cracked face. All it’s joints including head were made to be move-able. Above this is another handmade textured face inside a bronze circle filled with painted straw-like material. The assemblage is covered in paper-mache, painted rough-textured fabric and decorated with metallic parts. The two bronze swirl pattern pieces either side at the top are also handmade with polymer clay.

Materials included; Polymer clay, acrylic paint, paper-mache, cardboard, wood, painted fabric, hot-melt adhesive, faux moss or plant-type material, vintage jointed doll body, wooden dollhouse chair, two handsculpted faces, jar lid, beads, metallic paints, PVA glue, aluminium wire and bonding putty.
