I have always been passionate about the medium of clay, it is so versatile with the shapes, forms and glaze colours you can create. I love the chemistry behind the material, the alchemy and changes that happen when you put a piece of delicate formed ‘mud’ in the kiln and an artwork is produced which has been transformed into a beautiful solid object, which will be around forever, with colours that will never fade.
My love of clay it’s squishy qualities all started on the shoreline at Dovercourt, Harwich. On holiday as a child l loved to sink my feet into the soft squelchy mud. My art practice still has this element of play in the items i create, but the beautiful setting of my garden ceramic studio surrounded by parkland means that i am inspired daily by the flowers, trees and fauna surrounding the studio. The seasonal changes of flowers and colours act as the backdrop for my collections of my artworks and homewares.
