Ingrid Gammage

I studied Fine Art at Winchester College of Art and Southampton Solent University receiving a diploma and a degree in Fine Art.  My previous work was conceptually based focusing on memories by using various time based mediums such as ice, bricks, and lard.  My practice was heavily documentation based and included sculpture, video and performance.

In 2010 I moved to Warminster and completed a graduate internship in gallery studies and community arts training. My work since moving here however has been inspired by the natural world.  I paint the beauty that I see around me or in my imagination.  Rather than re-creating a landscape on a canvas, I see it through the eye of abstraction with an aim to express its essence and creating a connection to the beauty of the piece.

My inspiration comes from the colours and forms found in nature and my environment.  I look for the details, shapes and patterns which occur, rather than focusing on the actual objects.  I believe that art has the power to make one see things in a new light; it allows us to develop a love for places and things that we would otherwise not have noticed
