Description

Pewter repousse picture depicting the Green Man. The metal is worked from both sides until the image is raised / think bas relief.

Once I am happy with the design I apply special compounds to colour and patinate the surface of the metal. The whole is then hand buffed to reveal all the shadows and highlights.

It is at this point that the work becomes something other than that which I have made and takes on its own vital persona gradually revealing itself with every pass of polishing, it is fascinating and exciting a little like developing a black and white photograph in a tank of developer!
