3 digit 200mm x 200mm engraved sandblasted glass and slate house number by Tim Carter

£100.00

My sophisticated real glass plaques are of far superior quality compared to acrylic options.  I make my plaques using 15mm thick glass, engraved and sand blasted with the number or design of the customer’s choice before being mounted on a stunning charcoal black slate backing plate which really brings out the detail of the etching on the glass. I also use stainless steel fixings to ensure durability, whatever the weather.

Description

Drawing on many years’ experience of working with glass, I use a variety of techniques and processes to bring out the natural beauty of this hard wearing and versatile medium. The transparent textures of the glass are enhanced by refraction, the bending of light as it passes through the glass and out into the air.

With all the current media reports on environmental pollution, it’s not just the beauty and versitality of glass that interests me as an artist, it’s also the fact that it also has much greater ‘green credentials’ than other, often cheaper, materials such as acrylic and plastics.  Not only can glass be recycled an infinite number of times, it also requires much less processing than other recyclable materials which further reduce its impact on the planet.

Based in the beautiful Rutland countryside, I established Timothy Carter Glass & Sculpture in 1999 after graduating from the Chelsea School of Art and Design.  I now design and produced a range of unique products including exterior glass house numbers and personalised home or business name plaques.

I pride myself on consistently providing not only exceptional, high quality products, but also offering excellent customer service.  I endeavour to respond quickly to enquiries and queries from customers, offer a reliable service and fulfil orders in a timely manner.

True to my aesthetic design roots, my house plaques are both beautiful and functional. Purchasers can choose from a range of numerical and letter fonts and I’m also happy to discuss individual requirements in order to create a bespoke plaque to suit different styles and budgets.

By investing in one of my unique house plaques, purchasers will be investing in a real talking point that will be long admired and last a lifetime.  These top-drawer plaques can’t fail to impress my customers’ family, friends, visitors and even the postman!

Refund Policy

Hello Customer,
I aim to deliver my handmade art, sculpture, lights and glass house signs and plaques to you in a safe and secure manner.
I will try and deal as promptly as possible with any issues that may arise concerning your order.
Due to the handmade nature of my products, there will always be some minor variation in size, colour, shade, texture & depth of the engraving within the glass and other materials used.
The glass is cut and edge finished by hand to remove the sharp corners and leave an extremely attractive glassy, clear, rippled edge.
Some marks from the tools and processes used may be evident on the surface and edges of the finished pieces.
Please get in touch if you do have any queries regarding your order.

Returns: Glass house signs.
I hope that you will be delighted with your house sign, however, please note the following:
Tim Carter glass & slate house signs and plaques are handmade to order and engraved with your choice of number/s, name/s, font (typeface) or image / graphic and as such, are deemed as bespoke and personalised and therefore not eligible for return or cancellation once engraved.

Please also refer to Art In The Heart – Returns and Refunds policy under the 'Shopping With Us' category in the footer of the page.

Thank you,
Tim

  • Hello, I am an artist, designer and sculptor based in the idyllic county of Rutland. I design and make sculptural and functional artwork with an emphasis on decoration, geometry and construction. My creative process often begins on the way to my workshop whilst on an early morning dog walk with my Tibetan Terrier Barney taking in the sights and sounds of the beautiful Leicestershire and Rutland countryside.   Fortified by a cup of strong coffee, some homemade bread and marmalade to help get the creative juices flowing, I develop multiple sketches and design ideas drawing together inspiration from music, photographs, memory and interpretation of ideas discussed with the clients. My ideas are explored and developed using a combination of hand drawing, tracing and model making to computer vector drawings, templates and patterns. I experiment and hone until I have created a balance between shape, form, structure and surface design. I studied Mural Design and Public Art at Chelsea School of Art and Design where I acquired knowledge in using a wide range of materials, processes and techniques. During my studies and after graduation I worked with artist Danny Lane gaining invaluable experience and skills on several high-profile projects such as the glass balustrade for the glass gallery at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London. Following my degree, I travelled through India, South East Asia and on to explore and work in Australia. The people I met and the landscapes, architecture and art I saw left their impression and fuelled me with creative ideas and energy. On my return to the UK I completed a PGCE in Art & Design Education, ran adult education evening classes in decorative glass, worked at Norman Underwood stained glass studio in Leicester and also helped in the family engineering and steel fabrication business where I was able to continue to create and explore ideas for artworks and sculpture and gain experience in shaping, forming and welding steel and metals. I established Tim Carter Glass and Sculpture in 1999. I design and produce a range of unique handmade pieces including interior and exterior glass and slate wall-art panels, house numbers and name plaques, mirrors, table lights, sculptures and garden artworks. Alongside this I undertake many ongoing projects which involve the manufacture and restoration of traditional and contemporary stained and decorative glass panels and windows, often for heritage buildings including Rockingham Castle. I have been commissioned to design and manufacture artworks for private, public and corporate; homes, buildings & gardens including presentation award pieces for Roll-Royce Aerospace PLC. To produce something which challenges me as a maker and ultimately enhances or alters the space around it is an amazing privilege. This challenge and investigation is what provokes me into creating and keeps me continuing to design and make work which I hope will enrich people’s lives. I am happiest in my workshop and if I’m not there working on a commission or packaging and dispatching work to customers or galleries I can usually be found designing or modifying and building something for my home or garden.
