THE INSPIRATION

A print from one of my favourite areas of Scotland – the Highlands.

When I was staying near Ardeonaig, I woke up early to capture the sunrise on Loch Tay but then turned by attention to the hills in front of me instead (Ben Lawers in particular).  This dramatic scenery has become the inspiration behind this print.

Later on in the day I purchased some gorgeous tweed fabric from a local mill in Aberfeldy and then incoporated it’s wonderful texture into my print.  The purple tones were inspired by heather which grows in swathes across Scottish hills.

If you ever get a chance to visit this area of Scotland, I’d also recommend visiting the Falls of Dochart up the road, in a small town called Killin which is just so pretty.

I find a lot of my prints are bought as gifts for people who want to be reminded of the relaxing but dramatic landscapes of Scotland.  A wee piece of Scotland on your wall.
