Description
This doll is called ‘Persephone’. She is named after the Greek goddess Persephone, daughter of Zeus and Demeter. She is the goddess of the Underworld, springtime, flowers and vegetation.
Her whole body is wrapped in painted scraps of blue and grey fabric. The beaded crown is made of various types of grey and black beads some of which were painted. Her forehead has a pineal eye intended to represent psychic perception. At chest level there is a hand sculpted clay part with lines representing a tree symbol. This is a one-of-a-kind creation. I don’t use molds for polymer clay sculpture so all facial features are completely unique.
All her limbs including her head are moveable so she is displayable in any position including suspension from a wall or board (as pictured). There is a small looped ribbon attached to her back.
Approximate measurements; Length: 30cm (Highest point from top of crown to bottom of legs) and Width: 10cm (arms in downward position).
Materials included; Polymer clay, acrylic paint, cotton thread, cotton fabric, hot-melt adhesive, aluminium wire, mixed beads.
