How to be a Big Brand with Us

How to be an Art in the Heart Big Brand.

Being a ‘brand’ doesn’t necessarily mean that you are producing main stream products. Neither does it mean you have to compromise the integrity of your work. It means that you have a commitment to producing and selling and have a great connection with your buyers and followers. Being a brand means that your work is recognisable as yours, has a clear narrative, can evoke a lifestyle and converts into sales. It is not for everyone.

Think about the following if you want to be a Big Brand with Art in the Heart

  • You have honed your craft/product to a good or excellent level
  • You have a clear narrative which comes through in your profile and in turn runs through product descriptions and social media posts. This narrative aims to stir emotion and/or engender a desire to acquire. It can encourage a buyer to collect.
  • You have a diverse range of products to sell. This does not necessarily mean lots of merchandise. It could mean lots of different original products with diverse price points. It could also be original work with prints and stationary. Branding using original pieces can also work across different media, but the work will still be part of a recognisable and cohesive whole.
  • You upload new products into your shop regularly. At least once a month. At any given moment you would have 20-30 products
  • You demonstrate that you can sell on this site or on a similar online platform fairly regularly ie. at least once a fortnight
  • You have a genuine regard for your purchasers and have a desire to offer them new things
  • You market your Art in the Heart shop in your own selling contexts either face to face, in print or online. Big Brand artists don’t keep their shops quiet. They tell their fans and customers that they sell from this shop either face to face, or from their own online platforms
  • You engage with our social media posts about your work, by sharing and commenting. You might also engage with posts about other people’s work. You follow us on FB, Twitter and Instagram and you participate in our Artists and Makers UK group. You also share links to your products on your own social media channels
  • You enjoy marketing and selling and feel good about being a ‘brand’
  • You understand the effort required to get to a Big Brand level. A significant amount of  time is devoted to planning marketing campaigns and doing them as well as creating. It is a higher level specific commitment to marketing and selling
  • You have a level of IT proficiency and understand your Dashboard thoroughly.
