Raku Chawan 3. Chawans are part of the Raku tea ceremony in Japan. This bowl, was inspired by a visit to Wales on a family holiday,  the jagged rims of the bowl and decoration echo the hills and  jagged peaks of the landscape and rugged coastlines.

Seller Information

  • Store Name: Raku Ceramics by Shaun Hall
  • Seller: shaun hall
  • I have been working with Raku fired ceramics for about 18 years. My work is wheel thrown and slab constructed and is decorative and sculptural. I am influenced by modernist design and sculpture and ceramics from antiquity, especially in the kind of surfaces I want to replicate. My work is marketed in India by Curocarte and can be viewed on their site. I've been lucky to have my work used in GQ Magazine India edition, Architectural Digest, on show at the Royal Opera House for the Elle Decor Awards in Delhi, and in a recent tv episode of a show called House Proud on Sony Liv India. Back home in the UK, I continue to work and enjoy exploring the field of Raku making a range of wheel thrown bowls, tea bowls and sculptural pots. My work can be viewed in galleries across England and Wales. I'm pleased to be showing with Art in The Heart.
