I am inspired by the Lincolnshire Countryside and my work is a reflection of that. I created these flowers and leaves in the middle of summer when the all the flowers and foliage in the garden are fully bloomed. It is completely wet felted using a mix of Merino wool, silk and skeleton leaves.
It is in a black wooden frame with glass and is strung and ready to hang. The finished framed piece measures 34 by 49cm.

"It all begins with a bit of fluff and a lot of imagination".
I am an artisan felter and teacher based in rural Lincolnshire with a BA in fine art. I moved back to the UK in 2009 after living in the United States since the age of six and have been working creatively with felt for over twelve years using a variety of wet and dry felting techniques. My framed artwork pieces have over 50 fine layers of wool and other textural pieces to add depth and realism. I have always been inspired by nature and wildlife and love to see how much detail I can create using wool. I love the process of needle felting. It’s amazing how you can take something so raw, stab it with a needle and create something unique. From just a little piece of fluff you can make anything. I choose to use a single needle to create my pieces because I am able to sculpt, add colour and texture simply and effectively. It gives me such instant results and can be used at any scale from larger wall hangings to the tiny, detailed animals I make. When I moved to England I found myself surrounded by sheep and decided to start playing with the wool fibres that I got from the farmers in my village and from there I progressed to making a living by selling and teaching felting. I am passionate about sharing my skills and teach a range of classes and workshops to both children and adults. I teach the instant gratification of wet and needle felting so you can go home with one or more finished pieces in a half or full day workshop. I hold workshops in the Eastern region and at my studio at home. My work and teaching has been featured in many magazine articles and on TV. I sell my finished pieces online and at galleries and shops around the UK. I am one of the founding members of ESC Artists and exhibit and curate their work at Stamford Arts Centre annually.
