A painting from a series of still life studies looking at objects which we barely notice in the onrush of daily life. I tend to paint in a fairly loose impressionistic manner, trying to add intrigue by the treatment of light and colour. It is my intention to capture the essence of the subject, finding just the right brush marks to express texture and form. I hope my attempt at rendering the transparency of the plastic and the instantly recognisable label is successful. Transparency, captured in a few deft marks, was the ambition and challenge with this painting. A familiar object, seen again through the eyes of an artist, brought to prominence as a work of art.
