Jerome Hunt Fine Art

I studied Fine Art and Printmaking at the Wimbledon School of Art after which I worked in education teaching and tutoring mainly in secondary schools. Some years ago I also ran a wonderful Craft Centre where there was a screen printing workshop and art studio. I have such fond memories of this. For years I've been exhibiting my original paintings and screen prints around the UK and I am so fortunate to have had pieces selected at quality events for example the Royal Society of Birmingham Artists' Print Exhibition. Recently I won the Judges Commendation Prize from David Curtis at Paint Out Norwich 2016 with ‘Cathedral Façade Shadows’. I love the craft of painting, the challenge of modelling an image in oil paint, selecting and mixing colour and analyzing the tonality to create the illusion of reality. Whether working from direct observation or in the studio, the challenge has always been to create a fresh and painterly interpretation. My focus in recent years has been to paint directly from the subject, whether in the context of still life in the studio, or in the field en plein aire. I find this process to be the most visually nourishing and sets challenges which realise and enhance the skills which make good paintings. My artistic direction has been unwavering in the pursuit of a fascination with modern impressionism.
