Description

One of my pleasures is designing a piece with a certain person in mind. This piece was designed as a commission for a Parisian relative. The design was inspired by Victorian lace, which I love the intricate designs of and I knew the person I was creating it for would appreciate also.  After researching and sketching, I combined elements of the lace within the design adding a colour palette that suited the person I was designing for.

With my favourite commissions I ask the owner for their permission to run a limited edition print. My original silk batik work is professionally photographed to a very high resolution and the design is then digitally printed onto very high quality silk.

This is one of 100 from that limited edition. It is available in both silk chiffon (very light and delicate) or silk habotai (a heavier but still very elegant silk). The photographed scarf is habotai, if you prefer chiffon, please send me a message with your order.

The dyes used are completely colourfast and the scarf can be gently washed by hand in a mild detergent or dry cleaned

If you have any questions about this scarf or my work in general, please do message me.

  • I have lived and traveled widely Wiltshire, Malawi and Hong Kong were childhood homes, then meeting my aid worker husband continued my travels to Rwanda, Khartoum, Jerusalem, and Ghana. At college, a specialism in textiles, combined with a trip to Indonesia, ignited my fascination with batik. My tjanting and batik pot have traveled the world with me and now settled back in Cambridge influences from my travels find their way into much of my work. A recurring theme is a celebration of cultural diversity. The process of batik also represents a cross-cultural element, rooted in the Sultans palaces of Indonesia and spread throughout villages, craft workshops and artists' studios in the Far and the Middle East, Central Asia, India, Africa and more recently the West. My work has exhibited in National and International exhibitions and is in private collections worldwide. Now living in Cambridge, I take part in Cambridge Open Studios biannually and have exhibited recently with the Batik Guild, The Make Gallery and at the Textiles East Fair. My work is available at Primavera Gallery in Cambridge, The Art in the Heart online Marketplace and The Coach House Gallery in Guernsey. My aim is to be able to share some of the beauty and rich cultural influences that I have been lucky enough to encounter through creating my batik scarves and paintings.
