Description

This picture came from a trip to Ypres when I found I had some spare time. I had a wander around and found some lovely courtyard gardens and alleyways between houses; this clematis was falling over the wall of one house. It was a very productive day as I came away with several different pictures which I also have available on this site. This is part of a series of pictures based on pen and ink drawings with either watercolour washes with plain paper backgrounds or with acrylic ink backgrounds with the plant standing out without paint or ink colouring.

Ready to ship in 1-3 business day from United Kingdom (UK)

  • Seller: Rosemary Dodgson
  • My particular interest is in the drawing and painting of plants through the media of pencil, pen and ink, acrylics and watercolours, but I also greatly enjoy portrait painting using chalk pastels, where I specialise in animal pictures. I enjoy creating a diverse portfolio based on the subjects that inspire me. I tend towards very realistic representations but also enjoy breaking out into looser approaches every so often! My background was firstly as a horticulturalist. I was a Parks Manger in the London Borough of Redbridge for 8+ years, following which, I taught horticulture at Capel Manor College of Horticulture, Enfield. After this, my career diverted from horticulture but I was lucky to be able to continue my connections to plants through botanical art and I undertook the English Garden School botanical illustration course at the Chelsea Physic Garden, London. I offer occasional workshops, undertake commissions and exhibit through Cambridge Open Studios. I enjoy interacting with clients and I have found that a remarkable number of people are interested in the background to my paintings, whether they are in a position to buy or not; which is great, as we all love talking about things that we are passionate about.
