Learn how to create wonderfully bright and festive pictures (abstracts, flowers and landscapes) using highly pigmented wax, a hot iron and stylus. There will also be a range of Christmassy printing stamps to use to superimpose images on your landscapes and abstract designs. Your pictures will be the right size to attach to cards to send to special people.
Encaustic wax is an ancient art of using hot tools to melt coloured wax, adding to various surfaces to create a wide variety of paintings. This workshop will also enable you to learn how to create abstract designs, flowers and a simple landscape, building up like you would any other painting. Sky, background, mid ground, foreground and additional details such as flowers, fences and birds. It will also include learning how to create streams using a very simple technique. You will create many pictures of basic landscapes and images in different colours and with different additives.
Classes with Carole Boyer are limited to just 5 students so that you receive more attention and are able to learn more about wax painting and techniques in a small group setting.
All materials will be supplied and can be bought at the end of the class if you want to continue at home.
